this weekend went pretty ok . We (me and the BF) bought movies at Borders and stayed in both days watching them
  • Brown Bunny (infamous BJ and all ) was actually quite better than i expected. It was very intense.
  • Like Water For Chocolate- a foreign film classic , and one of my mom's favorites, it's a must see for any foreign film junkie like myself .
  • The Aviator - really great. i've watched it 3 times now , Cate Blanchett is superb.
i also saw another documentary but on my own .
I won't post what is was about because it's wildly inappropriate.
But if you are interested click here Zoo (film)
i warn you it is very bizarre, I like to shock and be shocked but for once i wish i hadn't gone so far.I couldn't even sleep well that night.

Another incredible highlight of my weekend was listening to the new BIBIO - Ambivalence Avenue album.
my choice for album of the year .This album obviously had an eclectic mix of influences.

listen to this song i implore you . It's not my favorite of the album but it was one of many great songs .

American Apparel tee, club monaco blazer, vintage tiger striped skirt, dsw gladiator sandals.and H&M sunglasses

Thanks so much for the nice birthday comments, I really enjoyed reading them you guys show us so much support. Today I subsequently felt the urge to wear a tiger striped skirt. Yes, yes i am guilty of obsessing on the cat look..even in my makeup I insist on the perfect cat EYES. My two favorite pets are cats (Chloe and Mason). My love of cats is spilling into my wardrobe in a good way.

I posted up my favorite Michael Jackson song Dirty Diana, I love it. I think we all are remembering the king of pop as the best entertainer in history.

Hands down the best birthday night ever, it was awesome I really had a blast in club Pacha with my bbf Janelli. This is the place TO BE when you feel young and restless. Club Pacha has the craziest loudest sound system I have ever heard, and if that didnt impress me enough the drop down projectors and the machines attacked to them would blow ice air at us. I couldnt see my hands the fog machines were so powerful! I was seduced by the house music and the eletric environment. Nothing can express the experience...

Photobucket

If you guys are in the city let Pacha be the first stop on the "to do" list its located in the west side of nyc. The picture below is the room I was mainly in the whole night. The projectors and the lights drop and the fog machine created ice cold air or dry and dense smoke. I will post more pics of my birthday night in Pacha when they are available in the site.

Anyone who knows me will tell you i am the relentless pessimist .
Anyone who knows me knows that i expect everything to go from bad to worse.
I know everything is supposed to be under you "control " or whatever new age BS , but honestly what do you do when people screw up and you have to pay for it BIG TIME.
This isn't a rant per se, but let's just say i had one of the worst days of my life .
Something that will affect the rest of my year.
The people who know me best realize that i have bad luck.

To cheer me up my friends took me to Pinkberry. I forget where but it's near Spring Street.
I just love how they decorate the place. BF chose the fruit, YUM.

wearing Destroyed Abercrombie and Fitch jeans (boyfriend's) , thrifted Blazer , and DSW booties

My boyfriend gave these jeans to me and in a hopeless attempt to wear them I had them tailored to fit me like "boyfriend jeans".

When it comes to music i love classic rock and I'm all about amazing guitar riffs. This song is a good example of kick ass riffs and catchy hooks .
Kristin Stewart is going to play Joan Jett in a movie called the Runaways and i'm definitely stoked to see how she portrays her.

Sala Thai

Located on the Upper East Side, me and the BF wandered over there on a late night excursion. Sala Thai had pleasant decor. I loved the presentation . BF says the pricing was moderate and the servers were inattentive. We had a pretty good time there and we will definitely go back.
If you are ever around 89thand 2nd Ave i recommend you stop by.

  • If there is anything cooler than this song, let me know.
No seriously . Let me know, comment and leave a link to something equally cool or better .

Speak When You're Spoken Of

Photobucket

Photobucket

The store being featured today is called Beacon's Closet, They have locations in Park Slope (not pictured here) and Williamsburg . Whether you are frequent visitor to the store or wandered over to Brooklyn for some choice hipster sighting, you have no doubt heard of this store if you are a newyorker . For those of you who aren't this is a vintage store that also sells new items such as leggings, tight, socks , sun glasses ,jewelry, umbrellas etc. My first time at the store was about a year ago , i heard of it through trendy albeit questionable sources. It wasn't the greatest experience . The clothing is way overpriced for what it is . The thing about it is that the store is too trendy for its own good . I did manage to score a great Bowie shirt that shrunk in the wash , but i'll be saving that one for my daughter one day, no doubt she'll be a raving Bowie fan by the time she's seven. Another great find was a one of a kind white skirt with neon icons all over it . I bought that last summer and you'll be seeing it soon. This is also where i found that gorgeous purse from the last post .

Photobucket

Photobucket

I soon discovered that the real treasures lie in the shoes. Sure they are overpriced as well , but these are actually worth it . I've seen Chloe boots and Louboutins i kid you not. Their boots selections is particularly impressive.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Because of the type sellers that frequent the shop, it is not uncommon to find the occasional designer piece in the bunch . On this day i found a great neon Comme Des Garcons shirt . I still regret not buying it but i had no money this trip was for blog/research purposes.

  • note to sellers , the employees who choose the garments that are bought are incredibly rude . Be prepared to be judged and given Hipper Than Thou looks.
  • All clothes are gathered in racks that are grouped by color which can be kind of annoying or good it depends.
  • the employees are very snobby and they are usually hipsters that look like a thrift store threw up on them. RUDE. This day they took my bag which is fine to prevent shoplifting but then no one was around to give it back at the end and i waited and then went up to one of them to ask if anyone was in charge of those bags and he was so rude and acted like i was bothering him . I'm sorry that i asked you guys to do your job.
  • The music they play is pretty good , indie stuff.
over all this store hasn't done too well in my trips there. Go at your own risk.
Avoid the employees, and their angry fedoras.

Here is a a great song by one of the bands that will be at that music festival i was telling you about .
I strongly suggest you click PLAY .

wearing vintage dress and vintage purse

I got all dolled up for my mom's wedding dinner. (don't know what else call it).
This is the gorgeous vintage bag i found two days ago. I just love everything about it, even though i hate silver and gold together. Absolutely nothing fits in there, but it's beautiful.
My day went incredibly well, I made my plans for the 4 th of July.
Me and the bf are going to the WOODSIST / CAPTURED TRACKS FESTIVAL
All my favorite indie bands will be there from
to Woods and Tyvek
I am going to die of excitement . If you live in NYC and are interested in tickets to this two day event click here
Trust me this is the place to be on the 4th of July .
Do you guys have plans yet for 4th of July weekend ?

One of the best places to shop for vintage in the NYC is Buffalo Exchange . This is where i met up with the two people in the last post . It was the first time i wentthere but of course i'veheard about it . It's infamous, with it's hipster customers and trendy appeal who in NYC hasn't heard of it . This particular Buffalo Exchange was located in Williamsburg. The pricing is pretty ok considering it's super trendy and the stuff is pretty cool and in great shape. They also have a location in the East Village.

Roxy from Penniless Starr was kind enough to write about her experience for you all

"It was my first time visiting Buffalo Exchange and the whole concept is re-recyclable chic. The pieces were accurately priced, and theres so much to chose from, and many locations to visit. I found a pair of 'We Who See' cream booties, a boys scout shirt, a pair of zebra print hoochie shorts, and a bunch of other amazing finds. Overall the store was great."

--edit forgot to mention that they have really cool jewelry price at about 10 dollars a piece .. i fell in love with this owl necklace

wearing Urban outfitters boots and target T shirt

Had a great day. I didn't work and had the day off to shop . so i met up with my sister's boyfriend( gotta put in that quality "get to know you" time). it was pretty fun but i spent an hour searching for the place we were meeting at because i gave him the wrong number .
Luckily they were still there.
I'll post more on that shopping later , it's part of my Damsels do NYC series. That's a joke . don't think i really named it that . The places we went are some of the most trendiest vintage spots in New York. They're located in Williamsburg. I definitely took pictures of the sweet stuff for you guys. I bought the greatest vintage bag .
He was accompanied by a friend of his and i just had to take pictures of her.

I rather loved the accessories she had on .

I had a pretty eventful day today . This outfit was literally thrown on in ten minutes and it proves what i was saying about how my outfits cannot be planned!
I got called into work and i had to run i think i did pretty well.
I also had a great interview for a summer job that would pay rather well .
So that brings me to this
Are You a Mac or PC?
kidding but i want to buy my laptop with the money i get after a month and i prefer a PC.
Any suggestions for under a thousand?

32 stories, Sleep Walk, Summer Blonde all by Adrian Tomine and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen by Alan Moore

Me and my Bf are enjoying a strange three way love affair with Adrian Tomine.
We went to St. Marks Comics ( one of the trendier places to buy comics in the city but don't confuse trendy with best because it's not ) and bought them out of Tomine.
He has already read 32 stories, which is Tomine's earlier work , and Sleep Walk. I think
San Francisco Chronicle says it best-

"...Has the kind of detail and romantic yearning which has made Tomine a cult figure to the still young and the kind of artistry which has made him a classic storyteller to anyone of any age."

(written about Summer Blonde)
I'm sorry is this too nerdy for you guys ? maybe but in my book
Nerdy is the new punk rock.

It has been for awhile don't you think? what gorgeous supermodel hasn't claimed to be a "nerd".

I dedicate this song to all of you .. It's beautiful and has great lyrics.
