Goin’ Out To Stay Up All Night

Photobucket

I saw the new Almodovar film, Broken Embraces, last night with the bf. Amazingly he is still talking to me after the iphone incident . We were both completely in love with the movie, no shock there since we both love his films. Penelope was incredible as Lena (magdalena), a woman involved in two relationships only one of which was based on love.
It was funny, and agonizingly moving, it reminded me most of his movie Talk to Her ( my personal favorite). I hope you guys go see it if it's playing near you, it's one of the best of the year.

so funny how hard it is to get a ticket to this type of film in NYC.... there was a huge crowd outside the Landmark that sold out all the showtimes that night by 7pm, glad i scraped my way to the front and got some of the last few .. note to self: buy online.

click here to read a NY times review of the film:

because of Thanksgiving my schedule has been a bit off. It's the funniest thing when i get up to go to class and wear something really great and i get angry and think what's the point if i can't take a picture?
but of course the point is that it makes me happy and i love to pay attention to what i wear, although i seem to lose sight of this more frequently nowadays.
We bought a new lens that i'm excited to play around with so hopefully i can finally get around to taking pics of my new coat.
Need to start planning where in the city to spend New Year's Eve and also get going on some christmas shopping, catch up on the blog browsing and favorite new shows (Tough Love).

Did anyone see the last episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm last week?
.. filled me with so much nostalgia i turned purple.

this songs puts a smile on everyone's face...

wearing Urban Buzz Madrid knit dress and Urban Buzz Greenwich Polo top

I have seriously been waiting all week to do this mini photo shoot and i'm pretty pleased with the results. Last week i got these gorgeous pieces sent over by Urban Buzz.
The dress is my favorite of all time (perfect for fall/winter), it has these pretty bat wing sleeves and the color is one i've never tried on but is now definitely MY color. Everyone was telling me how great it looked so i can definitely say i owe a really good day to this dress.
Just wanted to let you guys know that one of the best things about Urban Buzz clothing is that it is made of ethical and organic materials which by now is the best permanent trend according to Vogue ;)

Juice By You!

just wanted to do a quick post on something i've been interested in recently. Have you guys seen the commercials for the Style Savvy game coming out for Nintendo DS?

Just in case you haven't heard of it or find the commercial to be be a bit confusing i want to let you guys in on what the game is about, basically you are a boutique manager and your job is to find outfits for customers that match their style while staying within their budget.

While you earn money you restock your collections and the game basically updates looks year round based on the season. Since the game has over 10,00 clothing options and accessories, the possibilities are endless.

What really caught my attention was the news that some items from Charlotte Ronson Fall 09' collection would be available for download for the game.
Now I'm not much of a gamer, i audibly growl every time my bf decides to play warfare or leave u 4 dead or whatever game he's bought that week, but the DS as we all know is for everyone even people like me who have never been into games.

So i want to know your opinions ? are we interested in Style Savvy or not?

Her Wrist And My Hand

I'm glad there has been so many positive comments and that everyone has enjoyed the blog features. The next blogger i'm featuring is my favorite from the non-american blogs. Though by no means does that make her any less stylish...
Nadia from Frou Frouu blog
although i do admit favoring her for sharing the same name ;)

1. This is an odd question but what do you think of your name "nadia", do you like it? :)
I do actually, I love that it transcends cultural boundaries.

Photobucket
2. if you had to, would you rather wear marc jacobs or balenciaga for the rest of your life ?
Marc Jacobs clothes, Balenciaga shoes, Is that cheating? If it was between MJ clothes and Balenciaga shoes, it'd be the latter.

Photobucket
3. does the street style where you live influence your style?
I wouldn't call the inhabitants of my village even remotely adventurous or, God forbid, avant garde, but ironically, the effort my elderly neighbours put into the way they dress is quite remarkable. I admire all those who make an effort to look good.

Photobucket
4. What would you wear in a job interview for Vogue magazine?
Oh dear, I'm far too indecisive to answer this question! A balanced silhouette is a necessity so something that makes sense in my head, nothing too far removed from my comfort zone, accessorised with oodles of charm.

Photobucket
5. How much of your wardrobe is vintage?
Not as much as I'd like. Although I love vintage, I'm pretty fussy with what I buy and the way it looks on me, so perhaps a third.

Last Time Is The Best Time

wearing H&M sweaterand target tights
so this is what i wore for Halloween. I know, i know it's not a flapper costume it's not any type of costume really, but i have a good explanation for this. That party we were going to ended up not being in Willimasburg which completely ruined the plans to pick up my costume and leave from my place because the party was no where near my house .

Since it was going to be too much trouble to do this (mind you we take the train here in ole NYC) and my bf couldn't have been bothered to actaully check the address at all and just continue to insist that it is in Williamsburg so that at the last minute we find out that it's not. We just decided to staty uptown and see a movie at 86th.

I usually wouldn't mind at all since i'm not the type to make a big deal out of Halloween but this one time i actually had an incredible costume so i was pretty bummed. I blame him ;)

So what do you guys think ? should i wear my flapper look and do a small photoshoot this weekend just to be able to wear and post it ?

and a illustration my bf was inspired to do .... he's a pretty ok when he's not ruining my halloween plans.

Hope everyone had a fun Halloween! After a long night out i can wake up the next day wishing i hadn't been to lazy to wash my face properly. Not washing off all the makeup can clog pores and make me look like something out of Where The Wild Things Are, which i saw last night by the way. But i'm not going to bother reviewing something i know most of you have seen by now.

So since i awoke feeling icky and covered in day old makeup i was pretty glad i'd been carrying around these sugar scrubs that Felicia was kind enough to send me a few days ago. There couldn't have been a better chance to try them out.
Not only do these sugar scrubs smell good but they are pretty fantastic. A tiny amount was enough to scrub off makeup and dead dry winter skin. Once i was through scrubbing, i wiped off the scrub with water and was pleasantly surprised by how buttery smooth the scrub became, as if i was using a lotion face wash. The ingredients in this scrub are so yummy i almost wanted to spread it over some toast (coconut, mango, cherry, sugar, mango butter)
It not only works as a scrub but also feels really great post scrub and left my skin feeling very soft.
The scrub can be used on all body parts including the face, (!!) can't wait to try it out.
