sometimes it's the best thing to know a graphic artist, no, all the time. It's awesome all the time.

and finally got a chance to listen to the new Dum Dum Girls, friend of a friend forwarded me the songs. Just what i want in some distorted old school sounding lo fi pop.

I'm done with everyone trashing them.
Here is my favorite song of the album. I can see myself dresed in a cute 50s style dress with a cute boy at a school dance.

hope you all agree, She & Him fans will love it :

I heard this specific song a while back but many of their songs were re-released with better production

wearing vintage kimono style thingie, steve madden falts and vintage silk blouse

I've worn another outfit with this kimono thing but this is the only one i got photos of, sometimes its not worth dressing up if i cant take pictures.

It cracks me up that i wore my hair like this because i know i look like Shaun's mom in the film "This Is England", for those of you who have seen it that should prove to be very humorous.

But anyway i've gone shopping again, my habit has gotten pretty bad, but at least i have a summer wardrobe.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to style my kimono thing?

I'm glad you enjoyed my review on the show at Monster Island Basement, I'm going back to see these guys play on the 14th, how exciting.

The Girls at Dawn felt like poor imitations of the Dum Dum Girls, but the drummer was pretty modelesque and their first song was pretty kickass (yeah i watched the movie). I think a lot of the damage was done by some sound problems and not by them. They sound pretty good on mp3 but not a good live show overall.

Thomas Function was excellent, the night started when they took stage.

Harlem, which was the main event and the band i set out to see, was all that i could've hoped for.
As for the venue, Monster Island Basement, it was a headache to find which to some is appealing and to others annoying, nevertheless, having been my first time going i was very much pleased. It is more chill than the closed venue Market Hotel which is where the show was going to take place until it didn't.

The crowd was definitely in the mood for a good time, but some were in such a good mood that they decided throwing beer into the crowd would be a pleasant experience for me, and it wasn't, not for me or my Canon. I put it away promptly, my hair will survive some cheap beer but my camera probably wouldn't fare as well. Thus i could not get a picture of Harlem, which by the way is not from harlem nyc.

Best moment of the night was when they played "south of france" which is still my favorite of theirs.

I am still recovering from last night and worried that i will never be able to turn my neck, i feel a little like batman in his suit. I am in dire need of a neck brace but oh, the fun! Oh, the savagery of indie shows in brooklyn!

wearing Braetan Men's coat, bintage CK shirt, cords, and vintage brown loafer style shoes

My favorite magazine is Esquire, i very much like to look like a manly lady, at least in theory.

So usually i would wear my hair pinned up with this look to go for a faux boy cut, but i couldn't get it up in the small time that my bf/photog decided he would take time from working to take these pictures. I had to run out the door with what i had. I really miss going places to take pictures but for now i have to settle for taking them around my bf's neighborhood over the weekends.

I was a little bummed out i didn't get to see Los Campesinos last week, so i made up for it by getting my bf some tickets to see a Neon Indian show in June, who knew those guys would become so popular since i first heard of them in 2008.

On another note......

what's up with college loans? made to keep the middle class in the middle for life?

and don't ask me what la Virgen is doing in my photos she just showed up.

wearing vintage trench ,vintage flat brogue style shoes, coach purse and thrifted blouse from my trip to salvation army in niagra falls

Glad you all enjoyed the last post on the show i went to, currently i'm planning to get some tickets to see Los Campesinos next week.
I haven't mentioned it but my birthday is coming up and i'm feeling quite happy, April and springtime in general are always my favorite times of the year. i got these shoes for like 5 dollars, i thought i should mention.
Nothing else interesting is happening between writing and studying i try to hang out with my guy and read all of what i like to read but i am way behind.
I unwind by watching reality shows like Top Chef Masters and RW/RR Fresh Meat 2, yess!!!

This is by far one of the best songs i have heard this year, is it too early to put it as number one on my end of year list ?
Deertick- Twenty Miles
I'm in folk rock and lyrical heaven!

On another note , please let the next movie you rent be The Cove, it really deserves to be seen, as some of you know it won best Documentary this year at the Oscars, for good reason. i have always held the idea that animals, wild animals, should not be held in captivity. shame on humans for being so selfish and enthralled by the chance to swim with dolphins at a water park, without even considering whether a poor dolphin would rather be doing something else besides kissing a person on the lips, uhm try swimming miles and miles per day in the ocean free as it should be. done ranting, click here, rent the film and text dolphin to 44144

wearing sparkly red Leg Avenue mary janes and vintage wool blazer

I bought these shoes on endless.com, my favorite for shoes if anyone cares to know, had to get my hands on some statement mary janes.
Here are the last photos of me at Niagra Falls, a fun trip but i must say the location was lacking in almost everything especially good food, with the exception of De Dee's Dairy ice cream parlor, shout out to the girl who loaded my "small" two dollar cone with 20 dollars worth of excellent home made ice cream!

I know i'll never get that sort of service back home. She scooped up so much rainbow sherbet i was about to burst but determined to take advantage of what i saw as demented scooping on her part.
Maybe she was into me, i kid, she did the same for my friend and she couldn't even finish it. .
If that's what they call small i wonder what a large would have looked like, so if you are ever around the area, De Dee 's is much better than the damned waterfall no offense to anyone. but then again who would be taking offense?

But anyway i've been back in the city for a while now, nothing much else is going on,
Good music is falling from the sky.

Later tonight i'm going to Williamsburg to see the Washed Out and Small Black show .
Should be pretty dope.

I know some of you will appreciate this song, you may have even heard of them, unlike most of the bands i post, which is a shame sometimes, there is so much good music out there.

P.S. I am having a bit of trouble with my color correction, most of the pictures seem that on my bf's laptop they come out fine but then i get back home and they seem to come out without enough contrast, forgive the quality of the photos until i can figure this little issue out.
