Still trying to figure out how to get all my work done, but at least i have a break this week. Soon i'll be going to a bunch of shows and posting reviews and pictures.

I miss looking at everyones blogs, but i'll try to catch up this weekend. not much else to say.
Want to spend the weekend catching reruns of Top Chef Masters and The Real Housewives Of NY.

This is one of the bands i'm very excited to see.

Dreams...

Last night I was day dreaming again about jewelry, this time while on a train, i was randomly glancing at the crowd of people who were heaping their way into the 6 train at the 59th st. station when I saw a glimmer from a thin gold necklace on a beautiful girl. I am staring and she's creeped out and I still stare. It just looked so simple and beautiful around her neck even a little sexy, so ok I am a bit of weirdo staring at her neck and thinking this but yeah.
So back to the necklace, hers was gold but it looked a lot like this.

I picked this one from the Abazias site because although everyone gifts me a gold necklace I really prefer silver, platinum or white gold which is the best of both worlds.
This is because I read somewhere that if you have my complexion which is wintery or "cool" then you should go with silver. Which I agree with for the most part even though i get away with some gold necklaces.

Now don't get me wrong I love a giant statement necklace as much as the next fashion whore, but I can appreciate subtlety as well, some thing sweet, feminine and largely unnoticeable unless your are truly staring (like i was ), such as this :

I remember in the past these styles were ideal. I think that for some days a large statement necklace works great but for everyday you can't go wrong with a basic silver or gold necklace with a hint of diamonds like these sandals.
Now I feel like that snowman in the classic stop motion flick about Rudolph the Reindeer. "Silver and gold, silver and gold". My favorite song, personally.
Here's another necklace I liked from the site:

I figure that a simple thin necklace is a bit of a stretch for those of us addicted to statement necklace (you know who you are!) so I think something like this, a cute not-too-small pendant to put on your thin silver/gold necklace can be useful.
Think about it the next time you go put on that huge five pound necklace that's making you a hunchback.

wearing thrifted shirt and shoes

I'm so cool i sit on my BF's ArtForum magazines. I feel cool and i don't tie my shoes. I'm beyond cool because i tie my ponytails at the top of my skull. I'm cool, yeah.

When i saw this photo of Freja i was a bit inspired, but i don't know if that's a good thing because i simply copied the idea. oh, well. I 'm a bit worried about how i'll be posting now that i have a job. Oh i haven't mentioned it but I GOT A JOB! finally.

but i wonder how i'll manage daylight photos. i will figure something out.

I'll always remember this Q Lazzarus song from Silence of The Lambs. The serial killer swaying creepily, staring into a mirror.

This harlem cover is one of the best i've heard.

Exist In Usual Places

Not feeling particularly well. This week was hell and i didn't get to see the Fresh & Onlys . I have only been waiting forever to see them .

I know the cure for my melancholy is this:

Korean bbq with my best friend in Flushing, which is the best place for Asian cuisine. She took me there for my birthday i wish we could go again right now.

or these Spring 10' L.A.M.B. Z Project and L.A.M.B Zada platform beauties available on Danielfootwear.com

The giant screen on my bf's new iMac. He gets a little obnoxious, whenever it turns on and makes that noise he says "you hear that? That's the sound of technological advancement."

All of these things bring a gratifying smirk to my face when i think about them but for very different reasons.
and i still have the Neon Indian / Wild Nothing show to look forward to plus outfit shots for this week coming up soon.

It is very imperative that you listen to this Wild Nothing song and get acquainted with the Glo-Fi movement that is obsessing many an indie music blogger. What, don't tell me you're still listening to that lame new MGMT album ?

I took some of your suggestions into consideration. Decided to belt it, add sheer tights, and then make it more "me" by adding the vintage David Bowie T shirt under a ruffled dress/skirt.
Am still wearing my denim nails and glad this weekend i am free to do what i like and all i want to do is bring my mom a delicious fruit tart from my favorite Bakery La Tropezienne on Sunday.
What say ye?
What are you guys doing for Mother's day?

(all photos by me)

Haven't done a shop feature in a while so lets see if i can remember how to..

A couple of weeks ago ( and really it was one but so much can happen in a week) i went into Williamsburg,Brooklyn to see a show with some friends. On my way there, after picking up some shitty vodka at the liquor store, my sister and I walked into a vintage store, Vice Versa, which is on Bedford ave between N 3rd and 4th.

I was really surprised i hadn't been there before. It's far better shopping than the obvious choices such as Beacon's Closet and Buffalo Exchange. The pricing is much more reasonable as well.

i was particularly impressed by their selection of vintage dresses which as you can see above were colorful with unique prints, just my style. I couldn't believe that there were so many cute dresses, I rarely ever find nice dresses at any thrift or vintage store so that was a major plus.

It is also a plus that it wasn't too crowded (at least not when i went which was around 7:30 pm) and that the staff there is largely unnoticeable , i couldn't even tell if someone was working there.

i recommend. highly.

can't wait till these guys show up in NYC.
