I've been feeling a little listless and a tiny bit dejected today. For some reason I remembered The Illusionist which I watched last year. Whenever I feel like this I usually watch a meaningful film. In the case of The Illusionist I might not even have to see it, because just thinking about it makes me feel a lot of things. I won't get emotional, that's not my style (it might be) but I'll leave you with these scenes from the film. I'm sure those of you who've seen it will remember how it made you feel. Those of you that haven't please do.

My Memories Suite Giveaway + Review

I'm super excited to tell you guys about this software. I honestly think it's one of the best things I've reviewed and is indispensable for style bloggers, or any other type of lifestyle blogger. This suite allows you to quickly make professional quality photo albums and scrapbooks. Here's the first one I've made:

Pleats are definitely nothing new for bloggers but I think they're are still going to be around and even more popular than they were last season for spring and summer. That was quite evident on the catwalk (PRADA) and all over the street style blogs.

That said, I was able to use the Memory Suite to create these collages in 5 minutes max. I browsed the designer albums/scrapbooks and saw great magazine quality designs and templates for photos. They're just waiting to be filled in with pictures of stylish women. I'm currently planning to do one on the best and worst dressed of the Golden Globes.

While I don't see myself using the suite for anything besides blogging, mostly due to my tight schedule during school, the suite can also be used for wedding/birthdays/baby showers and other special events that you want to remember (hence the name). You can add video and sound from the special day or you can just narrate what's happening on the page of each album. You can choose the amount of pages and from the templates available in that designer album. Each designer album has a variety of templates you can choose from and you can put in or take out the ones you like for the pages in your album. The album can be huge or just a couple of pages long. These albums are all printer ready so you can put them in a real album and put them out for the rest of the family to see.

I have yet to explore all the album templates and all the great uses for the Memory Suite scrapbook software but I'm already in love. I know that you can create your own photo collages using other computer programs but Memory Suite is ideal and is super easy to use. The fact that I even put this collage together says the most about how easy it is to make these scrapbooks. I mean I've probably done less than two collages for my blog. That's how lazy I am. But now all I have to do is save the inspiration photos.

Ahh, what to write about? Want to know about my holidays? I am wearing a coat and some boots I found at the goodwill by my bf's parents' house in PA. I spent Thanksgiving there and went shopping at the thrift store on Black Friday. More discounts on top of already low prices, I went crazy. These boots were only 3 dollars and this coat was 40.

I also got this blouse for around 50 cents. 50 CENTS people! But that was at a warehouse here in Queens.

On Xmas I got some great bath products. I get enough lotion on Xmas and on my birthday (bliss products from my mom) to last me a couple of months. And while I didn't get the Cast of Vices bag I've been lusting for, my bf got my the B&N Nook. Now I won't have to become a humpback carrying all these novels for school. It's pretty frickin amazing actually. I love pages and book covers but this is just too convenient to pass up.

My sisters were also charitable enough to get me some awesome neon flatforms for the summertime. They remembered my Won Hundred ones that i had to give up. Ahh that ripped my heart out but they didn't fit.

It's thoughtful presents like that that still make Xmas feel like the movies say it should.

My mom got a decorative bookmark which made me pretty happy . My aunt was like , what are you gonna cry?

It was hilarious.

I went to a masquerade for NYE. It was way too dark to take pictures. I didn't stay long, I've never actually done anything for NYE and I feel like it's all overrated. Even being a part of a huge party I just wanted to go home and see an MMA fight.

Right now I'm jobhunting and obsessively following the Republican race for the nomination. If Jan 27 (start of the semester) never comes , I'll be a happy girl.

I promised I'd show my nails with that glitter polish i posted earlier. I do a glitter french manicure. If you want my technique it's pretty easy. All you need is patience.

1. wipe off the excess glitter on the brush on the sides of the bottle.

2. When there's only a bit of glitter on the brush go over the entire nail. That's how you get a small amount of glitter at the bottom of the nail for the fading effect.

3. Then dip the brush back into the bottle and try to get as much glitter as possible.

4. When the brush is thick with glitter dab the end of the nail. That's how you get a lot of glitter at the end for the french manicure look.

5. After the glitter dries go over the nail with a top coat to make the glitter sparkle even more.

It can be hard to get it right but if you put too much glitter at the bottom or at the top it's easy to wipe it off and start over. Much easier than with regular nail polish.

Whenever I do this to my nails I get super happy just looking at them. It's quick pick me up on a bad day. I always have bad days .

I also did it on my toes, although it's a bit harder to do.

Oh and i couldn't resist showing off my new leather gloves with the index and thumb flaps pulled back for touch screen use. The only annoying thing is that everyone stares at my hands when it's freezing and I'm using my phone with my thumb out.

I was really excited to try the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Express Kit. I had my bf choose which arch stencil was closest to mine, I used the high arch. Following the directions in the kit, I put the brow wax cream before the powder. I think i put too much wax cream on the first brow! It acted as a kind of wetting agent for the powder and made it go on like paint. That wasn't very good but the second brow came out perfect. I think next time i won't put so much wax or powder on.

It's amazing what new eyebrows can for a girl's self esteem!

Like i said a perfect gift for yourself or a friend.

You know my family never really did the stocking concept. We tried it out one year and they were stuffed with candies and that sort of thing . I wonder if the majority of people even put up stockings. to stuff. My guess is that most don't however I really enjoyed making this lists for those that do.

I definitely wouldn't put something from aa on the list if I didn't really love it. Since I work there I am especially critical of everything aa. But this nail polish is my new favorite thing. If I weren't under so much stress, due to finals, I would take a picture of my glitter nails. I probably will eventually but you'll have to take my word for now. This nail polish is amazing!

Yes this is still a personal style blog. This semester at school has been utter misery and has taken it's toll on my happiness. Those of you following my personal tumblr might already know that. I haven't taken many other pictures besides these, which i took during Thanksgiving break. Such a fun and relaxing time that i nearly vomited on the bus ride home from anxiety. I sure came back to a hellish study load for finals. Wish me luck. I am working on my gift guides.

Missed Connections book

For the closet romantic. I admit i've stayed up until 3 am several nights browsing missed connections and wondering about the people they were written for and about the people who wrote them. Sophie Blackall has put cute and sweet illustrations to the words of several missed connections from nyc. The CL ads she illustrates read like hilarious anecdotes to a best friend (Anyone Know that White Girl with Black Hair and Old Fashioned Clothes?). This would be a perfect gift and, like the missed connections on craigslist, would revive my faith in modern love.

Quick confession to all my readers: i have never had my brows professionally done. I'm sure that comes as a shock to most bloggers out there. We are all so fashion and beauty obsessed.

The reason why I've never gone through with it is because I've always been a low maintenance kind of gal, especially when it comes to waxing and certain upkeep. My full efforts go towards clothing and shoes.

So when i was sent an email about The Beauty Express Kit i said right on! I doubt that I'll ever step up my beauty swag to the level of some bloggers but at least I'll have nice brows !

This is my flapper costume.

You asked for it you got it. Halloween weather was terrible here in nyc but me and my bf made the best of it. And i jsut twantto add that i totally did consider taking the sleeves off for a more authentic look but the sleeves were hand beaded and just so gorgeous that i couldn't bring myself to do it.
I was also wearing red lipstick which doesn't show up with the black and white. I just didn't want it to be like one of those cheap sexy flapper costumes.

Sibu Beauty just sent me this amazing facial cream. Let me tell you a bit about their company before i do a product review. Sibu uses Sea Buckthorn as a main ingredients for all its products. Sea Buckthorn has been touted as an amazing berry that grows wild and in high altitude in Tibet. It fortifies itself with protective Omegas (!) and antioxidants . i mention this only because many of us have already been told enough times that omegas and antioxidants are great for our skin. The Sea Buckthorn has other amazing nutrients that you can read about on their website .

Now on to the review. The label on the box tells me that there is real Sea Buckthorn seed oil in the cream which is an absolute must if you are to get the full advantage of using products containing the berry. The product is %100 natural and cruelty free! The texture of the cream is a little waterier than i expected but i've gotten used to this already. It isn't such a creamy feeling over the skin which i really like because sometimes you have these other moisturizing creams that are too thick and take a while to rub in . They usually leave you with white spots that you miss while rushing in the morning only to have someone point them out to you later in the day.

No, the Sibu facial cream doesn't leave any white spots and dissolves onto skin rather quickly which allows me to put on makeup soon after applying. Throughout the day my skin feels uber soft and supple. I usually have a mixture of dry and oily skin. The skin around my nose and mouth gets very dry and irritated in cold weather but the skin around my t-zone and cheek bones gets oily. The sibu cream did wonders for my awkward facial issues because it really relieves all itchiness in my dry areas and moisturizes the other parts of my face without leaving it oily.

After using it for about a week, I can't leave my house without applying some and i carry it with me wherever I go. I haven't felt the need for reapplying throughout the day. Once in the morning leaves my skin looking and feeling great throughout the day. It even gave me a little bit of a glow . After using it this weekend i caught a glance in the mirror at work and thought, Wow, it looks like i have good skin!

Everyone has told me that it smells really good. I would describe it as a combination of tea leaves with oranges. Overall, a perfect facial cream, which is especially necessary to find with cold weather coming up. Let me also add that it did not clog my pores and no breakouts since I've started using it.

I've been thoroughly touched with a bit of "ring envy" so to speak. A surprising amountof girls on my bloglovin dashboard have gotten engaged or married. I'm not going to say who but I'm sure you are well aware of at least two. I talk about this to my bf as if they were personal friends of mine.
I only do it to see his brows go up. I really can't afford the time or money it would take to go forward with that idea. i don't know if i ever will. But in a tribute to love and marriage i will provide a some finger candy for you all to marvel at.

I had the idea of buying this shirt a size too big so that it would hang loosely but it doesn't quite seem right. Buying marked the first time shopping at an H&M after a long hiatus. The clothes just seemed to be going into a cheaply made direction. All i really found to like was this shirt, but it will do.
I want more leather but i sort of feel bad because i was trying to go veg. I'm pretty sure this isn't allowed. I think i'm going to indulge in my leather obsession by buying fake for the rest of the season. It just feels kind of weird to go out somewhere and be the only girl wearing a fake leather jacket.
Does anyone have any suggestions for an amazing fake leather jacket that looks like the real thing? I would pay real leather prices for that.

I won a giveaway on little plastic horses for a pair of Bonlook glasses. Perfect timing! I was already growing bored with my old ones and it was time for my yearly eye exam . A chance to find out how much I'm ruining my eye sight by majoring in English, just kidding !
I really want to go for a different look. I've had the same haircut for years now and I want to grow my hair out. Curly and long is so hard to do but I'm willing to try. I need a really good haircut so I'm searching for a great salon. Suggestions?

My entire family and my bf agree that this pair is much better than my last. The eye glass shop where i bought my last was thrilled that i made a change. When i brought in my bonlook glasses to be fitted for lenses, the lady was so excited by my new pair that she begged me to try them on for her even though i told her i couldn't because i was wearing contacts. For those of you who have never seen my old pair here is a pic of the last pair.

I don't prefer these over the other ones they are just completely different. These reflect my style choices more. I feel like moving away from the strange and eccentric to embrace something more sophisticated this fall.

Not sure why, it's just been getting harder to go through clothes and think about my blog. Maybe it's the lack of wardrobe organization. That can't change until December when i move out again.

Sometimes i really lose sight of why i even started this blog and i've been going through really tough months so i lose interest in style and fashion things. Hopefully things will look up, since i have the ridiculous capacity of going from one extreme to the other with my moods and even my life encourages this anomaly by lining up several shitty events in a row then several awesome events following them. My boyfriend recently bought me this Street Level bag at Old Hollywood. I love it . Everyone agrees that it's gorgeous but slightly too large for someone who's 5'3. But it's not his fault that i'm 10 inches smaller than him. It's a perfect bag for school. I keep saying it looks like something Urban Outfitters would sell a low quality version of.
I took these while at Summer Screen in wburg watching Jurassic Park with the bf. Really fun, really crowded.

we had our favorite vegan empanadas from V spot and I jumped for the umpteenth time in my life at the velociraptor that crams his head through the gate when the blonde chick turns the power switches on. Summer is still here!

These gorgeous Playful Promises delicates were courtesy of Lingerie Please . I had to show you them . But i'm not hitting the gym too hard (or at all) . So for now i won't torture you with images of me in lingerie.

For such a beautiful basque with boyfriend-approved sex appeal, the feeling of it is not uncomfortable at all as is my usual experience with sexy lingerie. The powder pink lining on the middle part of the corset is incredibly soft. But the thing i loved most about the basque, besides the demure dusty pink and black color, are the flexible bra cups.

The issue i find with most basques is that the small ones that fit my petite frame is that usually the cup sizes are too small for me. At first this appeared to be the case. But the cups were surprisingly accommodating.

The "Please Me Please" briefs were so pretty . i never know if i can pull off a sheer backside but they looked quite nice when i first tried them on.

What i did on the 4th of July: basically spent it dripping with sweat at Coney Island. I know that's not an image you want in your head, but it was beyond ridiculously hot. I do actually talk like this for those of you wondering. Anyone can tell you i'm known for exaggerated complaints.
I just want to add that I am so in love with my cateyes! There subtle feline shape guarantees i can wear them after the season.

Where was I? It was over 90 degrees and humid. My feet were burning. It was the first 4th of July in so many years that I have actually done something. I had funnel cake for the first time! It was just me and my bf though. Next year I am aiming at a large group of people. So far my summer has been a win!

I'm pretty upset that i missed Jim Gaffigan doing a free show in Central Park late last month. I was working.

This is one of those outfits that it is hard to get a head to toe picture of. I'm sure you know what i'm talking about. It's too stripey and too long to look good on camera. So i give you the outfit in pictures for you to piece together. Lazy blogging? perhaps.

In case anyone was interested, Northside was a pretty awesome experience.
On thursday we saw Xray eyeballs and the Kholes at shea stadium.
We also walked out on the Atlas Sound showcase at St. Cecilias. I don't know why i thought a church would make a good venue. We saw this god awful guy who i won't embarrass by mentioning his stage name. Heineken was the sponsor of the festival so they were the only beer available. We couldn't drink inside the church so if you wanted to drink your disgusting beer you had to walk outside. It pretty much sucked.

On friday we say Sharon Von Etten at the McCarren outdoor shows. She was so sweet and amazing live. The stage was kind of shitty. That's only my opinion but the concrete softball field hardly made a good spot for an outdoor show. We didn't stay to see Beirut. The best show was at the Knitting Factory. Xray eye balls were present. again. Surfer Blood was at the end and they rocked.

Saturday was spent at the outdoor show with Wavves , Surfer Blood and The Babies. We didn't stay to see Guided By Voices because i was majorly hung over and needed to get out of the sun.
Courtney Love supposedly made an appearance that day.
Then we saw Xray Eye Balls yet again at Union Pool. We also saw Wovven Bones and they kind of weren't that good. I don't think i'll listen to them anymore.

Overall, the festival was awesome I'll remember all the drinks i bought legally, the drugged up banter of Xray Eye Balls' lead guitarist and their female vocalist who wore the same outfit three days in a row! My boyfriend throwing himself into a pit of men at the Knitting Factory, frozen Margaritas and tequila shots at San Loco: Best time ever.

We quit sunday night, excessive drinking to blame.

I hope the lace bodysuit is visible in these pictures. I'm never going to be a "jeans and t-shirt girl" but i'm as close as i've ever been in this outfit. A few years back i declared myself done with jeans. i went from having over 20 pair to just 4. I only ever wore 2 of those.
But ive recently bought three pairs and some jean shorts. Two are flares. They feel so new and the shape feels right for me. Not saying i'm done with a skinny leg but i love watching my feet when i'm wearing flares. I watch the bottom of my jeans until my bf goes, stop looking at your jeans!

Speaking of the guy , he took me to this really great denim shop in brooklyn called Brookyln Denim Co. . Easy to remember. It was the first time a guy has shown me a nice place to shop, least of all a bf.
Their jeans look amazing on mr. so-freaking-fit, bf of mine. He bought a really great pair of Kill City jeans. They also have designer brands.

The sales staff was incredibly helpful and they even wrapped up his jeans in brown paper. This kind of made it look like i was walking out with a big piece of meat though. I definitely recommend it for Williamsburg shopping or nyc shopping in general.

That's about all i've got today. Finishing up finals and getting ready for another amazing music themed summer.

These photos came from a night out with my bestie. We wanted to go to a cool show but only ended up bored and slightly nauseous due to all the smoking going on at Death by Audio. More like death by lung cancer. teehee.

We were shopping for a bit at Buffalo exchange in Williamsburg. I went up to the register and realized i had left my wallet at the burger joint three blocks away. I told them to hold the shirt and then ran over to the place only to find that i 'd stuck the wallet way down at the bottom of my bag. Then i realized i had forgotten my best friend's iphone at Buffalo Exchange!

I ran back out of breathe and then pretty much felt forced to buy the shirt i had already decided i didn't want, to ward off judgement from the register lady. She was like , is this your phone ?

I've been really distracted with tumblr lately. So i haven't felt like posting at all. Turns out there are all these crazy porn blogs on there and some cool entries tagged "breakups". Why are we so enthralled by failed relationships?

I bought tickets to the Northside Festival. i'm going with my bf. His best friend's visit marked my first ever trip to a bar. I just turned 21 people, bear with me. It felt pretty awesome but i still can't believe i can go into these places . I keep waiting for someone to come up to me and take my drink away. Now that i'm 21 the Northside festival is going to be way more exciting.

This is what i wore to see Lover.Muse.Mockingbird.Whore. last Saturday. The show was great but not spectacular. I was glad to have my favorite people come along and they really enjoyed it.These tights look pretty cool but i've only worn them three times and the have some small runs. i'm not sure if i regret buying them.I wish i would've worn a different dress under my button up because i realize that it looks like I'm not wearing any pants which wasn't my intention. The black dress under my shirt looks like another stripe on my tights . Just another way this blog helps or maybe hinders my style choices.
I look like i'm having a great time but it was one of the most miserable shoots to date, mostly because of the rain. I keep insisting to everyone that April is the best month but it was really letting me down on this occasion. For my birthday i went to Churrascaria Plataforma , made a trip to Six Flags and had a dinner party with my family. I got a few cute things and some awesome Bliss products c/o mom. But i think it was my bf who really outdid himself. I believe it was mostly an attempt to make up for some recent poor behavior and demonstrate his love.He even presented me with gold flash passes for six flags and also a pair of cateye rayban sungalsses. i'll post those soon. Such a keeper! It was pretty impressive but daunting.

Now that i've had more than my share of meat from the churrascaria, i'm dropping it from my diet for a while . Hopefully it will be for the rest of my life but i'm trying to take it one day at a time, kind of like a marriage . At least land animals are out and soon hopefully fish, but i don't want to lie to myself.

I love wearing these shoes! Men are outraged and women are a little envious.
They're my geisha shoes. When my family and best friend saw them they all agreed they were weird but amazing.

I love this long skirt more than all the others. I was pretty much crazy about my outfit for this post so i hope you guys like it.
I've been tired but less worried. I was trying to help my bf find a different apartment because his current room mate is a monster from hell. It's kind of interesting to look for rooms in the so called "gentrification zone". trying to convince a stranger that they can live with you can be interesting but can also cause inadvertent self- reflection. He settled for a giant space in a quiet part of Long Island City. I'm so happy. If i had to go to another "tree house " loft with a bunch of high twenty somethings who all consider themselves artists, i was going to beg him to stay with the monster.
We went to this one place in East Williamsburg where the guy showing us the apartment was not only completely out of it (i.e. talking to himself for long periods of time) but also got into an intense argument with one of the room mates. He referred to the guy as a squatter because he was refusing to leave or pay rent !
Nine people and one bathroom. To top it off, the toilet was clogged and/or broken when we got there.
Now we are trying to find a room mate to move into his old room in a nice part of Brooklyn. We expect tons of replies and now we get to read through the emails and wonder about these random strangers. Who will convince us they are worthy of a nice room in a prime gentrification area?
My life is pretty much taking a better, less ugly, shape. April is always my best month.

When did i become a tote lady? I used to despise their casual vibes. But they're just so useful when i'm running from one place to another. I even found a cute backpack, although i feel like it would make me look shorter.

I like that they have zippers because my tote bags are wide open. Sometimes i think people could reach in there and take my stuff! Sometimes i even place them down on the subway and things fall out. That's how i lost my gloves the other week.

I got my Macbook this morning, spent a few treasured moments with it before heading to class. ! I feel like a better blogger already. I'm going to encourage my roommate to start her own blog and we are going to spend nights crouched over our laptops drinking coffee and eating jasmine rice from the thai place downstairs.

did i mention i live in a wonderfully "chinatownesque" neighborhood? Anything asian, right around the corner.

Things i lost last week : a full bottle of pills ( managed to hold onto those for a total of 1 days, fuck me). headphones. last pair of gloves. favorite marc jacobs earrings. favorite asos necklace that would've looked incredible with my "biker " inspired looks. my watch. new tube of liquid eye liner.

Something i'm making light of , but the fact that i've become one of those people who loses everything is not something i'm proud of.

AA skirt and dress worn as shirt with H&M bra and jeffrey campbell shoes

Am currently so tired that i just referred to cucumbers as pepperonis when buying my footlong at Subways. Again i am proved right: I cannot start my days before 9 am. I've been dying to wear this gorgeous skirt out for so long. I have a love hate relationships with my longer skirts. One i use solelyas a pajama. I put it on and crawl into bed because i'm too lazy to pull my covers over me and the skirt is soo warm!

But it can make me look like a church lady. This one i like a lot more. I chose this color because i thought it would photograph well. The two times i've worn it i've gotten a lot of stares but no glares. Which shows how far the maxi skirt trend has gone in the last two years. i think people would have openly ridiculed me before, not that they don't for other reasons, but now i just get these interested stares . Wondering stares of women as if asking themselves "can i pull it off". Or at least the wondering stares of girls thinking "do i like it ?"

i also wonder, while i'm sauntering down the dirty brooklyn streets of my bf's neigborhood, if anyone recognizes it's a completely Jil Sander copied look. I know we all do !

I've seen quite a few more women wearing the maxi skirts and i always point them out to my bf, rather violently, because i had told him in february that everyone would be wearing long skirts this spring/summer. He says , not the girls that actually want to attract guys! But he's such a hypocrite because he loves my new accordion pleat skirt (seen above)!

I can't wait till my flatforms arrive because i have a feeling they would be incredible with my new long skirts. I'm finally starting to feel hopeful about my wardrobe again.

Things I've just bought:

It smells like a dream, my only complaint is that it melts like butter in the water.

I needed a new notebook on which to jot down things to spent my money on, school deadlines and foreign movies i want to watch. I bought it at this cute bookstore in Greenpoint named Word.

Except i bought the shoes in black. After close debate with my bf (meaning mostly me insisting the opposite of everything he would say) I chose the black ones because black is my signature color !

They are the most expensive shoes i have ever bought , but my life is sucking and i needed something to be happy about. I told myself they were worth the money because i'm going to wear them every day of spring. Their "flatform" description makes me think they'll be comfortable.

I've been living in this gorgeous snood scarf that i was offered from the hooks and halos etsy shop this winter .
So much so , that i am dreading parting with it once the weather warms up here.
It doesn't look like it's happening anytime soon; there's more time to wear my scarf. You have to looks at the bright side to everything. I asked for the "williamsburg " scarf because i spent so much time there i just thought it was funny but maybe i'm being a dork. She customizes each orde,r so i chose the color as well.
I found this gorgeous yellow bag at my favorite salvation army. I was with my room mate/ best friend/ ex blogger partner and we were commiserating about how broke we are and how our lives suck . I think those are my favorite times. When I'm faking like my life sucks while simultaneously having the best time with a good friend. It must be true that friends and the people you love are what matter most in life.

On a less sillier note, i've grown fantastically sick of my wardrobe lately. I haven't felt like that in quite a while . When every piece looks boring used and completely unstylish. I keep grabbing up the same three shirts and the same three pants. But i have plans to get new stuff soon . i want to try a really outlandish type of dressing but with some restraint. I don't want to look like a clown . I want different color cat-eye glasses for spring and long skirts with printed tops . I'm not yet sure what style of shoe i'll be wearing but will post up candidates on the blog.

In my last post i mentioned dressing for a boyfriend. So i wanted to show you guys the product of such musings. This was my Valentine's day outfit . Short dress with heart print and cleavage baring.

It was kind of fun pretending to be a bombshell, however it's not something i want to do everyday.

I had to buy these tights on my way out of work because i felt they just completed my look .

I had a great time that night just staying in and playing the new plants vs zombies for ps3.

I tell my guy that he better kiss these legs goodbye for a while because i'm going full into the long skirt trend for this spring and summer. I also went thrift shopping for bright bold printed tops to pair with my long skirts. I'm started to feel that excitement about dressing again ! God knows it has long alluded me .

This is my dork look, i adore my tote bag and all it's trippy images and colors and my 90's style sweater. It might be 80s but by now we all know i'm clueless about those things. Since the weather has been frequently frigid i have my "go to" fur vest worn always over my puffy vest, which isn't as fashionable but keeps me quite warm. I also layer my tights.

My boyfriend absolutely hates this sweater, i love it . the girls i work with have mentioned they like it too and i got the ok from my former blogger mate and best friend (now room mate) whose opinion matters most to me. She might be the only person whose opinion i would give consideration.

Are other bloggers the same ? Are you completely into what you wear without need for others input .

I do feel like if i listened to everything , or even half, of what my other friends, sisters and boyfriend said i wouldn't own most of what's in my wardrobe.

I always dress for myself before anyone else; I dress for girls before guys but i'm planning on taking my bf's opinion into consideration this valentine's day. He's requested something tight and sexy with cleavage on full display. it might be fun dressing in a way i'm not used to.

I feel entirely pathetic for my blogging habits as of late. It's been over a month of sparse posts and half ass efforts. It bothers me especially that i haven't gotten around to looking at everyone's updates. And i'm so behind on new music that i would need hours to go over the mp3s i've compiled on my usb drive. I think it might bother me more to miss the new posts on my favorite blogs than it does to not be able to post as often . I've been struggling but it will probably get easier when i buy my macbook pro after taxes.

But as long as i still have the urge to keep the blog going it will remain for those who are still interested.

So far this year i've grown entirely bored with my wardrobe and all of the spring trends with the exception of longer skirts. This being one of the few places i have ventured. I'm not going to invest too much on longer skirts because i'm sure that i'll want to go back to more flattering short skirts.I'm only 5'3 after all.

I took some indoor photos, which are always the hardest, because it continues to snow here in NY and this part of the northeast. I drank so much coffee trying to get shots for this post that i got a huge migraine. I haven't been looking my best and i'm praying for warm weather.

I haven't done a jewelry post in a while. I've really been craving a thick silver ring in an interesting eye catching shape or with cute details. I love the above because it reminds me that the next meaningful holiday (to me at least) is Valentine's Day. i've always been a pink and hearts kind of girl. I always doodle hearts when I'm bored. They're sweet but not too girly in this ring because they are all silver.

I like this one because it has a grittier chain and biker feel to it . Which is going to be something i revisit this spring. I think this one is more versatile. Not too mention that jewelry is always a great V day gift.

This dress had everything i wanted in an NYE dress. Black. Velvet. Long sleeves. The rows of buttons going all the way down were more than i could have asked for.

I knew it was the one the moment i saw it last month during my trip to Harrisburg. Judging by the amount of girls trying on LBDs at American Apparel on New Years Eve ( that's right i worked that night!) i may have been the only one to choose a dress that early. But i've always been one to get that sort of thing out of the way. However, i must admit to buying the shoes the night before NYE.

They are quite beautiful and i hope that comes across in the photos. They really look odd next to the shoes in my closet though. They are the only ones that are completely black and delicate. Spending most of the year in Brooklyn has clearly influenced my shoes this year . I wasn't all too pleased with that because i've always thought my style didn't fit into any boxes. I'm going to make sure i consciously buy different types of shoes this year because lately i've been having a hard time matching shoes to certain looks. I find myself hopelessly looking at rows of clog booties, lace up boots and oxfords.

I wasn't in the mood to spend too much time taking photos that night because it was freezing and my bf /photog was drunk.

In case you were wondering where i took this gorgeous dress on NYE, the bf took me out to dinner at Le Gamin in Brookyln, where i had filet mignon and he had too much champagne. Then we went home and fell asleep. No NYE disaster story here. I prefer to start my year sober.

On a different note i found out recently that i've been wearing the wrong bra size . I found out that my measly b's had turned into Cs this past year , an event akin, (no doubt) to getting a raise at work. Which also happened to me this year !

When i told my sister and best friends (who are all still b's) they eyed my chest suspiciously and announced that i'd betrayed the B team. I wasn't aware there was a team but i'm happy to have an upgrade.

Bad thing is i have to buy new bras this year.

New Year's resolutions include posting more often, reading a poem every week, watching all the movies that get nominated for awards, buying a new macbook pro and not killing my bf's room mates' cat.

I had no idea what i was going to wear when my bf invited me to a semi-fancy xmas dinner . Thank god Shabby Apple offered me the perfect dress ! my room mates were blown away by its color and we are going to paint our apartment this color.

I've been incredibly sick lately. These are some shots i managed to take before Christmas. Me and the bf went to a great Greek restaurant called Pylos.

Christmas haul was an overall success. My dearest older sister got a staph infection and frightened me from ever picking a blackhead-- because, apparently, that's how she got it. She spent Christmas on morphine.

NYE's is destined to be spent working and clothed in velvet. Wait and see!

But hopefully all the snow will just finish melting . I'm sick of navigating through huge puddles of cold water.

thanksgiving outfit: vintage dress

This is what i wore to meet the new beau's parents on thanksgiving in Harrisburg. I did go thrifting but only managed to take these photos. My haul was incredible ! I have a devastating new years outfit. I was having such a good time . i wish i could have stayed forever. but i'm quite sure lounging all day whilst eating and drinking is only cool for the hosts for a little while. must get old quick.
So i hurried - albeit rather reluctantly- back to nyc where my life was waiting for me with a giant dose of F. you.
Walked right into two tests, three research papers and a presentation. Also managed to lose my cool at the subway station near my new place - yippee!- and yell "bitch!" to a girl who stole my metrocard swipe. She walked in when i had swiped. That was the first time i've ever done that and i was quite ashamed of myself.
A few years from now, I hope to move away from this town. can't take the rush anymore.

I hope to get all my projects done and get back to posting more often .

I hope to enjoy my 5 day vacay to PA. despite the fact that i have three research papers and a test to study for. I might use that as an excuse to escape if the people i stay with get too tiring. Human interactions tire me sometimes. i'm just introverted.

This is what i wore to see a show around where i work with my two besties. It was pretty fun.
Total Slacker was the best set of the night. You guys should check them out if you get a chance. Although i did miss that cute guy from The Beets' performance. I've seen him play 5 times, will he ever notice me?.Probably not since he has a gf that looks like a boy. Why do these cute indie guys go for those type of chicks? Why can't they give other girls a chance to prove they're interesting? Well i guess i'm doing the same thing if i only look at dudes who are tall, skinny and awkward looking. But i don't ever feel like they look back at me. Now you all must think i'm vain. I'll shut up about it.

So yeah, my sister gave me these leather gloves for my birthday (in april). Is she not the best! Don't worry sister i will take that into account when i make my xmas list. She also gave me these gorgeous snake earrings.

I'm hoping that in PA i'll get to do some small town thrifting!
and i'm also using this as an excuse to take tons of photos with outfits i've been saving for ages.

i was really excited about the trip to Philly. The endless rain didn't dampen my excitement. Thanks to Hannah and her Philly Guide i was kept perfectly busy by going from thrift shop to thrift shop. We had the best time ever!

I was so carefree i might have been in jamaica.

So when i went to see Interpol i was a bit disappointed by both the venue, the crowd and their performance. We were all seated (which i hate) as if to watch a film. Then they started playing . Ddin't really say anything or seem to have any connection with the audience. Sound quality was great. Songs are awesome. But. It felt so dead. Just one song after the next.

Being the new yorker that i am, i quickly assumed that they weren't giving their energy to a show that wasn't in the capital of the world (yeah , that's what we call nyc, capice?).

they also didn't play Specialist or Leif Erikson. They did play Obstacle 1 however, and i went crazy. Not nyc crazy, not even brooklyn crazy, but some type of crazy. The most that the awkward seating would allow. Shall i make an excuse to see them at their NYC show in Feb? Interpol Round 2.

I love the color of this coat. A variation on camel. I found it in the men's section and wore it with a turtleneck, quickly checking off two of my other fall trend must haves: BF coat and camel.

Then i tried out something new which i've been seeing my coworkers and some chicks on the L train do. knee highs over tights. except they do black and i put my own twist on it . You can't really see in in these pictures but my knee high socks have specks of color like fruity pebbles all over them and i wore burgundy tights. I'm an individual.

Hope you've been enjoying the same four pictures for the last two weeks . my bad.

I've been every where and no where. I keep having a dream where i find out i had an entire class i forgot about on wednesdays and it's too late to withdraw. Gives me a heart attack every time.

At work they made us dress up as " Cowboys and [sic] Indians". I grew up in Arizona, calling them indians is a no-no, but i did it. I was a cowgirl and wore this cute bolo tie that i found at Salvation Army a few moons ago. Didn't even know it was called that until a customer commented on it, tee hee.

I thought it was really lame that we were restricted to a theme. I saw that isabel from Hipster Musings posted what her coworkers wore and they looked so much cuter in their AA gear.

Also, I have been sick for almost a month. I found out that people only give you leniency the first week of your illness. After that, you are expected to act normally when you can't even breathe and feel like fainting every so often.

A Trifle Uncool

Excuse the hideousness of my hair, i spent most of this weekend in bed. When it came time to take these photos i realized my hair would ruin many of them but such is life. But this is actually what my hair looks like most of the time so the jig is up.

I've been throwing this velvet beauty over every outfit imaginable this month. I love when you can find the one item that isntanlty updates your entire wardrobe for the season. As i mentioned before, velvet is on my hitlist of trends that need to happen in my life.

Subsequently, i've been wearing my clown pins a lot. This is one of them but i have two more which will make appearances later this season.

Life is busy and my schedule is pretty wacky but i made some time to meet up with my old friend by this startling fountain . Afterward we went to my favorite restaurant on the lower east side, shopped a bit and then walked to the Whole Foods on 2nd Ave ( my favorite) to buy some greek yogurt and fruit.
I suggested we eat them at one of the benches by the soccer fields next to Whole Foods.
There we enjoyed some unapologetic ogling of athletic french men.
Little was separating us from their muscled but lean bodies, save a fence. One even began to undress in front of us in order to change into uniform. He sent a couple of shy smiles our way before saying "I'm sorry about this.." i didn't hear the rest because we sort of burst into laughter like the school girls we once were. I love a gentlemen.
I should have said something back to him, but alas, the average city day is filled with missed opportunities. No one is more scared of rejection than a New Yorker. We try not show our emotions to the strangers we are surrounded by on a daily basis no matter how attractive they are.
I did wave to him when we got up to leave. He may have waved back but i wasn't sure.

Well it is actually fall so i'll concern myself with spring trends later in the winter when i'm dying of cold and waiting in a line for a bus. Only then will i start thinking about the spring and what i'll be wearing.

Sept. 9th: Picture + Product Review

I've been sharing a room with my sister as of late, something i haven't done since i was about 8. The reason for this isn't important but hopefully it's temporary while we find our own place. My sister is one those girls who needs even the tiniest things to represent her personal style. For example, her wallet, her makeup trays etc. all have a trace of personality. She even has some adorable fake candies that she keeps around, they are in the shape of a cupcake which she has (for unknown reasons) decided represent her personality. Cupcakes galore! she even has some tattoos of these baked goods.

Girls like her make me fairly self conscious: my wallet is in no way representative of my personal style, neither is my sharpener or any other mundane object i own. It makes me feel like i should be paying attention to these small things. Now, i'm not about to start carrying a carrot shaped wallet or the like, but i was recently gifted with something that makes me feel somewhat girlier in this department.

Behold my tweezers from the Betsey Johnson collaboration with Tweezerman.. It makes me want to carry them around everywhere, have people inadvertently notice them and then assume things about my femininity!

But seriously, these are some seriously adorable tweezers, why have i been carrying some plain black ones when i could have these. I'll admit that i've scoffed more than a few times when i gaze over my sister's cutesy products. They seem pointless if somewhat frivolous especially next to mine.
My best friend even pointed out the other day, I know which stuff is hers.
But my new tweezers help me understand the reasoning behind such behavior. Pulling them out feels like a treat. Like i'm doing something special.

The tweezers themselves are excellent. They live up to Tweezerman standards and like i said they look good in my purse.

By looking at these photos i suddenly am reminded of my bad posture. My mother would always tell me to stop slouching and sit up straight but i never can.

Nothing interesting is going on in my life, i made a huge mistake that i'm currently trying to undo. Whenever my life is falling apart i seek solace and retreat into the fantasy world of fashion. It's an escape. So i'm working on a few moodboards and gathering my trend inspiration. What i do is collect runway photos that inspire me and keep them in my ipod then head to thrift stores and look for clothing with a similar vibe. It's all about interpreting the runway looks for every day with affordable items.

Why did it go from 70 degrees to 94 in two days?

still haven't gone to the beach and probably won't, oh well less wrinkles for me.

I absolutely love endless.com for guilt free mindless shopping. On my shopping cart are some fur boots and leopard keds. I've started paying more attention to my shoewear lately, and have even bought my first pair of jeffrey campbell boots (in the post below).

Me and my friend attempted to go shopping at the mall, two days in a row. I hadn't been there in some time. i guess i forgot how lame it could because we found absolutely nothing except some pajama shorts at Forever 21. The photo above was taken at Urban Outfitters, where no shoes are comfortable.

My friend loved my Marc Jacobs earrings because they look like gauges from afar which is the same reason i'm so into them.

Right now I'm attempting a quick post before work . A few days until September and i still don't have fall inspiration. Life has gotten a little too wild for me, i plan on retreating to the reliably entertaining world of style blogs tonight.

I saw Winter's Bone and Scott Pilgrim last week, i would recommend Winter's Bone over Scott Pilgrim but i did find it funnier than i thought it would be, Scott Pilgrim that is. There is not too much to laugh at with Winter's Bone.

I actually used a timer for these shots, YAY me! But seriously i've been so scared of the timer and and even though my bf bought me a tripod and professional lighting i never make use of it. I always want him to do it, but he's being so grumpy lately and works too much to do the shoots.
So i'm going to be trying the self timer thing every now and then.

I have a whole week off and i'm going to spend it wisely. I plan on going to the beach if it kills me, also will come up with fall inspiration and rifle through my closet for fall looks.

I love my AA chiffon top, it's so comfy and bright. I have a similar one from H&M that i wore in this post. But the sleeves ripped (surprise, surprise). This outfit is actually something i wore to see inception with my bf and an intern from his office. I liked it so much that i decided to wear it again for the shoot. Only my hairstyle was different. That's not cheating right ? because i did wear it out.
God i love my lip smackers Dr. Pepper, i know i said it was for summer but i think i'm still going to wear it in the fall.

My last summer outfit. What does that mean?

This is the last time i will allow myself to indulge in "up to there" shorts and skirts.

I was very perturbed when bloggers and magazines alike started telling me i was done with summer. I can't even believe it's already august and i sulked for a while thinking about all the things i didn't get to do this summer like go to the beach/pool, post my favorite looks, barbecue etc.

But if you can't beat'em join'em. So i am officially preparing for fall, and am in "pre-fall" as it were. So even if the weather doesn't cooperate i will be donning fall inspired looks. Don't get me wrong i am not walking out in 90 degree weather with a sweater on but some thin knits, some fall inspired colors should be enough to get me in that mindset

Here is what i am hoping to see and wear this fall:

new animal prints i.e. giraffe

less 70's/80's and more 90's/50's

nudes

That's all i have so far. Do you all have any ideas for trends this season ?

I must admit that i neglected the fall collections quite a bit and am now struggling to get a feel for what to expect. Ugh , i used to watch every single show every season and track the trends obsessively on blogs and magazines.

but sometimes you have to live life, all of that takes more time than i have.

So if anyone could throw some ideas my way feel free. I don't think it's mindless at all to follow some trends it keeps things interesting especially if you try and find way to incorporate them into your personal style.

at least i went to a lot of shows this summer! well not as many as i should have but i saw these guys which i loved!

i met up with my older sister the first time i wore this dress. She took a quick glance and told me it was a tank top, i told her AA is calling it a dress and therefore it is one.
she also asked me something pretty interesting, "are you on board with the braless movement that's been going on [in the city]?"
short answer: yes i am.
long answer: until i walk out of the house swinging these b cups about. Two minutes in and i miss the comfort of my under wire. but it's always too late to go back to my place to put one on so i wing it. it's not comfortable but what trend is?

FYI: i saw inception the night it came out, which is pretty obnoxious but also makes me gleeful.

And last but not least, this song is one of those that i love with my puny little heart but never post on here because i know most people won't take to it as much.

attempting to do a quick post before i spend QT with the bf.

I went to see Thee Oh Sees play yesterday at Pier 17. They were pretty amazing but i mostly took pictures of the girls of Golden Triangle.

They had really great style, i'll leave it for you guys to debate:

Overall, the show was pretty incredible, save the fact that some assholes were trashed by 7pm and started slamming themselves into me and getting violent. I've been known to get down and wild but this was over the top. I have huge bruises and welts on my forearm from continually being slammed into the fence.
if you're reading this long-haired blond guy with the red plaid shirt, you are extremely obnoxious and i hope you grow up and learn how to have a good time without getting wasted.

i don't know if thinking about meditating was enough or what but i found my usb drive pretty magically. So here are some photos i neglected to post.

Fresh and Onlys were pretty great and so were Woods who played later that night. I didn't get pictures of them because my camera ran out of battery. They made an off color reference to the Rapture before they went on stage. The crowd laughed unsurely.

This was part of the Northside festival i was telling you guys about. For three days Williamsburg and parts of Greenpoint and Bushwick were the center of the indie universe.

Now that i can cross Fresh &Onlys off my list of shows i missed last summer, the next ones are these guys. They're playing here in August.

Lately i've been thinking about taking up meditation again. i really got into it two years back , i don't know why i stopped. I'll tell you why i'm considering it, lately i've been feeling really stressed due to my incredibly packed schedule (too much work too much schoolwork, am moving out and i volunteer) not to mention that i keep trying to see all the soccer games. I keep losing everything and i mean everything . I set something down and then forget where i put it, i've lost my USB drive (oh god, it makes my stomach turn to think of it) and other equally important and valuable things. It's seriously driving me nuts. Every other day i am trashing my room because i've lost one thing or another. Maybe it's just the moving but it's really getting me down and making me feel out of control.

I had some pictures i was going to post that i lost because they were in my drive. blah.

Anyone have any tips ? how not to lose so many things or on meditation?

I feel like if i can clear my mind for a few minutes each day i might feel less rushed or at least i could remember silly things like where i put my glasses.

my bf 's bday was earlier last month . i got him that delicious tart i keep telling you about from La Tropezienne. I go mad for that place ! it really is worth going uptown for the price and quality. Even though the owner frequently has a rude attitude towards me, but then again i imagine most people to.

my sister gave me this vintage Michael Kors bag for my birthday.
my bf gave me this video nano (16 G!) for being a Kaka (world cup joke) last month.
the last graphic novel i read called Refresh Refresh, it's about these young guys who live in a small town where many people have gone to fight in the Middle East. There's angst, there's sex, there's tragedy.
my gifted Misikko flat iron. sometimes i carry it around for no particular reason .

but first a note to whom it may concern (and you with the glasses): haven't been posting at all lately and i feel terrible but i am having some relationship troubles, camera troubles, internet troubles. Plus, it's the World Cup right now and i'm mexican so I've been watching the games. Couldn't care less about what i am wearing.

on to the post:

Life in NYC has been a whirlwind of summer shows and late nights. I went to see Future Islands play at Silent Barn last week and didnt think twice about going into the crowd and dancing until all of my stuff fell on the floor because my bag broke open. Thank god i salvaged everything, but i do still have your i.d. Chelsea Yang, who ever you are! hope your NYU loans aren't too extreme ;)

didin't manage to get pictures though, but i have pictures of the Neon Indian show. it's a bit wild how popular they got in the last year.

Neon Indian was great but i was expecting a little better, I feel the Wild Nothing set was cut short. and i believe that Neon Indian didn't play Should Have Taken Acid With You. It was good but could've been better. Still reminiscing about the Washed Out show. But we'll see if the Northside festival is any better ( google it because i'm through linking everything for today).
